Authoring and Multimedia

I am quickly learning that Adobe has a great range of programs available, and I’m thankful that these are installed on the Macs at uni. We’ve all heard of Acrobat Reader but until this unit, I was unaware of the capabilities AND the uses of Adobe programs. One of these is Fireworks. As stated on Kerrie, Leanne and Allira’s website, “Fireworks is an example of multimedia software developed and distributed by Adobe Systems. Fireworks has become a popular method for creating animations, adding interactivity to web pages and editing graphics,” (Presentations, Week 8).

The girls showed us how to create an animation using Fireworks, where we chose two photos and inserted some text, then made an animation. We manipulated the frames per second (fps) in order to create our animations – it was quite a technical process; it would take some time getting used to this software (like any!). The end result was great, however, and it prompted me to visit the Adobe website…

The header above will take you straight to the website. If you’d like to try an Adobe program, many of them are available as free trial downloads so you can try before you buy. It’s not the most affordable software, however, I’m sure it is a designers dream come true! From creating snazzy PDF files, to editing photos with Photoshop, Adobe has it covered!
